But,
Bob, what do you mean by fair wage. Because all wealth is created by
applying labor to nature then how can any company make a profit of any
amount at all and still pay a fair wage? Any way you look at it the
workers will have to be paid less than the value of their labor or else
the capitalist system will fall apart.

telepathy? — in ancient astronauts? — in the Bermuda triangle? — in life after
death?
No, I reply. No, no, no, no, and again no.
One person recently, goaded into desperation by the litany of unrelieved negation, burst
out "Don't you believe in anything?"
Yes", I said. "I believe in evidence. I believe in observation, measurement,
and reasoning, confirmed by independent observers. I'll believe anything, no matter how
wild and ridiculous, if there is evidence for it. The wilder and more ridiculous
something is, however, the firmer and more solid the evidence will have to be.”

Hi All,
Interesting discussion here.
In today's America, there is a good bit of exploitation going on; just look
that the income inequality that has been growing under the leadership of both
parties.
Capitalism doesn't have to be that way if only those who do the hiring would
take more of a long-run approach to life. They should concentrate more upon the
long run impacts of what they do and less on this quarter's profits. Then,
they'd pay a fair wage, minimize adverse impacts to the environment, ensure
worker safety without big brother government looking over their shoulder. There
are some out there who really do it right and I've seen them do it. Problem is,
they sometimes get done in by the greedier sort that cares only about this
quarter's profits and cares very little about the environment or the employees.
And, on the subject of finance? The simpler it is the better off the people
will be. When one hears words like Hedge fund, derivitives, securitization,
then you can bet that a few greedy so-and-sos are about to get really rich and
a much larger group is about to get the proverbial shaft.
