Kevin Zeese: His Last Words For The Movement And Carrying On

unexpectedly in his sleep, likely from a heart attack, early in the morning on
September 6. He had not shown signs of illness and was working until the end.
Many of you know Kevin from Popular Resistance, from his writing and podcast
Clearing the FOG. He had a deep knowledge of history and the issues. He often
spoke of his time working for Ralph Nader in 2004 when he wrote policy briefs
as a "PhD in public policy." Kevin understood how political power works.
Kevin's work in activism spanned more than 40 years.

Assange Hearing Day Four

By Consortium News. Judge Vanessa Baraitser has adjourned the hearing of Julian
Assange until next Monday while a Covid-19 test result is awaited for a lawyer
who appeared in the courtroom on Wednesday.  Edward Fitzgerald, a lawyer for
the defense, told the court:  “We shouldn’t be here. Covid could be here in

Anti-Racism Protests In UK As Police Officers Face Court In US

By The Canary. Anti-racism demonstrations took place across the UK on 11
September as the four officers charged over the killing of George Floyd in the
US went on trial. Protesters said they are determined to show that previous
Black Lives Matter demonstrations were not “just a moment”. Mass protests were
staged across the world after footage emerged of officers kneeling on the neck
of Floyd, a Black man, killing him. The four men are charged over the death,
but it’s understood they will push for separate trials in order to diminish
their roles in the incident.

OSHA Fines Smithfield Foods For 'Failing To Protect Employees'

By Mackenzie Huber, Argus Leader. The Smithfield Foods plant in Sioux Falls,
which was the epicenter of one of the nation's largest coronavirus hotspots in
April, has been fined by the U.S. Department of Labor. The Occupational Safety
and Health Administration announced Thursday that it was fining the Smithfield
Packaged Meats Corporation for $13,494 for "failing to protect employees from
exposure to the coronavirus," a news release states. The fine is the maximum
amount allowed by law. At least 1,294 Smithfield employees contracted
coronavirus, and four employees died from the virus, the release states.

Multinational Companies Account For Nearly A Fifth Of Global CO2 Emissions

multinational companies such as BP, Coca-Cola and Walmart are responsible for
nearly a fifth of climate-changing carbon dioxide emissions, according to a new
study. But the businesses outsource many of these emissions to poorer parts of
the world by investing in production in developing countries, said researchers
from University College London and China's Tianjin University. Dabo Guan, the
study's co-author, called the work the "first quantitative evidence" on the
investment flows and carbon footprints of multinational enterprises (MNEs).

China: US Is 'Destroyer Of World Peace'

Sunday that the U.S. is the “destroyer of world peace” while criticizing a
Pentagon report on Beijing’s military goals. The Associated Press reported that
Col. Wu Qian called the Department of Defense report released earlier this
month a “wanton distortion” of his nation’s intentions. “Many years of evidence
shows that it is the U.S. that is the fomenter of regional unrest, the violator
of the international order and the destroyer of world peace,” he said, noting
U.S. actions in Iraq, Syria, Libya and other countries, according to the news

The US Is Borrowing Its Way To Fascism

seemed a little like binge-watching the last several years’ parade of
none-too-subtle signs of incipient fascism. We saw extreme nationalism,
scapegoating immigrants and foreigners in general, white supremacy, “strong
(narcissistic)-man” government, aggressive foreign policies, and hysterical
red-baiting. Those signs reflect how capitalism’s deepening crisis undermines
both the centre-left (Democrat) and centre-right (GOP) and shifts politics
further right and further left. Trump represents the anti-centre right, Bernie
Sanders the anti-centre left.
