We Deserve A Better Medicare-For-All Debate
By Dylan Scott, Vox.com. The narrow debate over Medicare-for-all’s financing
has become totally disconnected from the status quo aspiring reformers want to
fix (the high costs of health care in America), and it totally ignores the toll
of the Trump administration’s reckless agenda to pare back health coverage in
this country. But the debate rolls on. Sen. Elizabeth Warren said Sunday she
would put out a plan to finance single-payer Medicare-for-all in the next few
weeks. She had little choice. At last week’s debate, debate moderators and
centrist candidates used the issue as a cudgel against the senator, who has
risen to the top of the 2020 field.

U.S. Anti-War Movement Should Stay Focused On Getting U.S. Out Of Syria

and denounce each other to justify foreign intervention — as is currently
happening in reaction to the announced U.S. pullback from the Kurdish area of
Syria — this generates speculation, analysis and confusion in the population,
including among anti-war activists. It demands a clear political response. This
confusion takes place because U.S. apologists invent pretexts for the
government’s military interventions. They falsely claim it sends troops to
defend democracy or to protect the human rights for some group.

South Dakota Governor Caves On Attempted Efforts To Silence Pipeline Protesters
By Vera Eidelman, Aclu.org. South Dakota’s governor and attorney general today
backed down from their unconstitutional attempts to silence pipeline
protestors. In response to a lawsuit we filed alongside the ACLU of South
Dakota and the Robins Kaplan law firm, the state has agreed to never enforce
the unconstitutional provisions of several state laws that threatened activists
who encourage or organize protests, particularly protests of the Keystone XL
pipeline, with fines and criminal penalties of up to 25 years in prison.

Media Ignore Unmasking Of Twitter Exec As British Psyops Officer

Middle East Eye (9/30/19) uncovered that a senior Twitter executive is, in
fact, an officer in the British Army’s 77th Brigade, a unit dedicated to
psychological operations (psyops), propaganda and online warfare. Gordon
MacMillan, who joined the social media company in 2013, is its head of
editorial for the Middle East and North Africa. While both Twitter and the
British Army attempted to distance themselves from the implications of the
report, it is unclear why MacMillan would have this role if not to manipulate
and propagandize the public.

Forest Fires Rage Through Lebanon

masculine ridicule has been relentless, but so has the feminist response. A
video of the scene has been clicked and reposted tens of thousands of times on

reports, the incident occurred on October 17. That day, a convoy of vehicles
accompanying Lebanese Education Minister Akram Chehayeb got caught up in a
demonstration in the center of the capital, Beirut.
