Hi Jake!

Thanks for the heads up about the fact that wordpad won't recognize
section breaks. For Roger, who is currently using wordpad to validate, we
should warn that books scanned by Carrie, unless she has taken to converting
section breaks to page breaks before submitting should be avoided as
validations when using wordpad to validate.

Perhaps if there are any others out there using Fine Reader to scan and
recognize, could you let us know that and whether you habitually convert
section breaks to page breaks before submission, so that folks who might be
using wordpad can know what to avoid, if anything?

Just ideas to keep in mind, I guess.

Mayrie

Hi Mayrie,

Yes I'm out here. I had some catching up to do on list mail. As it looks
like you've discovered WordPad is a viable tool for validations so long as
you know its few quirks. For example CTRL+ENTER won't insert a page break,
but you can copy/paste one into place.

I believe the major limitation came up when it was discovered that WordPad
did not recognize section breaks and had no mechanism to convert section
breaks to page breaks. Gerald and I at least weren't able to figure it out a
year or two ago.

All in all though WordPad probably works with 95% of validations, for the
other 5% its best to use a more powerful tool.

Best regards,
Jake
