I guess you don't know anyone who was helped over the edge from reading suicide supportive text or people who feel eating disorders and other related material support their choices. And what about Columbine and other kids whose minds were poisoned and dark sides deepened by what they read. And if you do not think reading contributes to teen pregnancy and poverty, you are quite wrong. I know many people who when they read suggestive things they did not understand, so they decided to explore and experiment without knowing the repercussions, were not equipped to deal with the aftermath. Reading can both broaden a mind or narrow it. I have seen both. That is why I support guidance for young minds with removable barriers with proper supports.
