I would think that publisher quality files would be the files from which
the printing press operates and so should be of the exact same quality as the
printed book. After all, why should the publisher have any other kind of
file on hand after a book has been officially published? In light of the
follow-up message I think the problem is in the software we use to download and
read them rather than with the publishers. The complaint should probably be
directed to Microsoft if it is I E that is causing the problem.

I had that feeling before. When we volunteers do books, most of us are very
careful. I don't know really what publishers are sending us--books that
have
gone through a proofreading anf editing process before publication, or
something else. I've had books from the library that  were missing pages. In one
case, the whole first 7 or 8 pages were missing. I had a friend send me the
missing pages so I could know what went on before the beginning of the
story.

Well I pulled down my 1st pq book today. I expected to se, uh, well,
publisher quality. What I'm seeing is lots of words run together,
sometimes 3 at once, which makes it a rather difficult & tedious
reading experience. Somehow the eutopia of perfect books is exploding
in our faces, & I can only wonder why. I hate to say it, but it surely
seems as though the volunteer-submitted books are often better.

I'm not complaining--I love it that publishers are giving books to
us--but I'm wondering why these problems? Surely a spellcheck would
have picked them up. & now that the book is in the collection, is
there anything at all that can be done to improve the quality?

Folks, this is beyond sad! Ok, yall, rant over. I'll shut up now.
