The trouble with the header footer stripper situation is two fold. First, it adds trouble for volunteers attempting to preserve page numbers and page breaks, chapter titles and so forth. Second, the presence of titles and headers or footers in books in the collection simply make the resulting product seem sloppy to the reader.
I do understand about time lines associated with grants. I fully support bookshare. I have always done so. The length of time for fixing of some of these basic issues is what makes me speak up. Many many things have simply gone on for a long long time.
