[bksvol-discuss] Re: line space after page break

I just put blank lines around all page breaks, one above and one below. It's a very simple and fast search and replace operation, and then I don't have to remember particular circumstances when I need one and others when I don't. Besides, I think it's just aesthetically better to have them. Not having them would be like a book without margins.

Hi Cindy, The manual doesn't say. It only says that if the page number is on the bottom, you should leave a blank line above it and below it just like you would if it was at the top. The bookshare software will then move it to the top. But what the manual does not say is whether we are to leave blank space at the top when the number is at the bottom. I am proofing a book right now with the page number at the bottom and I am also leaving a blank line at the top, but I probably don't have to do that.

It hasn't changed.

I do not think the requirement to have a blank line between the page
number and the text of the page, whether the page number is at the top
of the page or bottom has changed. At least that is what I am still doing.

I know that after all these years proofing I should know this, but... I know we're supposed to put a line space between the page break and the page number; I've always put page numbers on the top left. But the book I'mproofing now has them in at the bottom middle. I remember reading that we don't have to move them, the conversion program will do that. But does that mean that I should have a line space between the page break and the first line on the page, or else the lined will be deleted?
