I had the not-so-good habit of deriving the meaning of words from their context. I would find sometimes years later that I didn't have the correct meaning. smile I just googled efulgent and found that it didn't mean at all what I thought it did.I had no idea what lambent meant. a lovely word and meaning. I loved the example of use. smile Cindy Wish List (i.e., books wanted added to the collection) and books-being-scanned list available at sites below Wish List: https://wiki.benetech.org/display/BSO/Bookshare+Wish+List Books Being Scanned List: https://wiki.benetech.org/display/BSO/Books+Being+Scanned+List --- On Sun, 7/5/09, Ann Parsons <akp@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Ann Parsons <akp@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: [bksvol-discuss]writers who use big words To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Sunday, July 5, 2009, 7:03 AM Hi all, I love being able to look up the occasional word. Taylor Caldwell is one of those writers who uses big words naturally, as if she figures her readers will know what on earth she's talking about! I had to resort to the dictionary for "efulgent" Anybody heard of efulgent? I also looked up "Lambent", any takers on that one? I better retake the SAT's I could probably get a better score now after fourty years. <smiling> Ann P. -- AAnn K.
