There is no doubt that reading a book and correcting is the best method. But there are times when the book has no interest for you. In that case there is a way to at least remove junk characters.
I use the method Guido taught me. Simply search for all the non alphabetic characters one at a time and remove them if they are not a correct part of the text.
I have also compiled a list of about 15 junk characters not on the keyboard, such as pound sign, degree sign, Ural etc..
I will be happy to send this list to anyone who wants it or perhaps post it here. This would work for anyone and will catch a number of errors even without rank spelling.
