Actually, I believe a part of the problem is that there are so many foreign names and words. Yes, I have cleaned up lots of junk characters.

Dan,

The book you are working on had maps at the back of it as well as may have
had some scattered throughout it. I wonder if that may be part of the
problem. Also, have you done a global replace and removed junk characters
such as caret, tilde, others?
