Hi, everyone! I also have a DVD player connected to my TV, and both my desktop and laptop have one as well. However, I can't seem to play DVD's on either of them. On my laptop, Windows Media Player pops up. It says it's playing, but there's no sound. When I checked for plug-ins, several decoders are available, but I have no idea if one is more accessible than another. Any suggestions?

As far as the hardware DVD players, I've heard that at least one of the major companies is working on a talking one, but I haven't heard anything about when it will be for sale. I think maybe it's Panasonic, but I'm not sure.

I, too, play DVD's on my computer. I, too, have a DVD player hooked up to my
TV but haven't had anyone over here yet who can show me the layout. I do
have a little vision, so if I know what to do, I believe I can do it. I just
haven't had anyone over here to show me yet, but if there are any accessible
ones out there, I'd definitely be interested. Take care.

*Ponders* Others may have more information on this than I do, but I'll admit
that I play my DVDs on the computer, using any number of applications,
including Intervideo WinDVD player. I'd love to hear others' suggestions on
this.

I do have a DVD player that connects to my TV as well. My first observation
was that the remotes are often designed very well, and you can tell the
arrow keys, the OK button, the numbers, readily by touch.

I've also learned that typically you can put the DVD in, and when it starts
playing music, press OK a couple of times. That will take you into the
feature presentation, but often, accessing the extras is difficult, which is
why I prefer the computer.

If others have other suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them as well.

I was very frustrated the last time I went to the video store, and found,
to
my dismay, that I can't get VHS yes, videos any longer.

So... it is time to bite the bullet as it were, and get a DVD player.

Does anyone have any suggestions on accessible ones, ones where you DON'T
have to see the screen to get the darn thing to play?

I can't use one on the PC, as apparently it messes up my screen reader or
so
the tech guy told me when I asked about it. Is something to do with my
PC.

Anyway, would appreciate any suggestions anyone has on stand alone, or
portable players that have worked for them.

Thanks you and sorry for the O_T. smile.
