Paula, If you're talking about pictures which aren't part of the page numbering, then I'd say yes. Material which is not core content isn't required, and I wouldn't consider pictures like this core content. The reason is that the pictures may not be in every edition of the book. For example, the best-seller Marley and Me has a hardcover edition with pictures and one without, giving you an option as to whether or not you want to pay extra to see pictures of the dog. In that case, I would definitely say the pictures could be left out. So, if you think the pictures would be left out of another edition, like when the book comes out in paperback, then I wouldn't worry about leaving them out of Bookshare's copy. Of course, you can include the captions if you like, though, but I'd put them at the end since the pages aren't included in the page numbering.
