I do have my original. I have found out that it was a proofreading decision that the numbers were some kind of junk character. We can all be relieved that it was not a computer error of some sort. Shouldn't the original submit be in BookShare's hands? ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, June 26, 2009 3:55 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Book Needs Help Hi Gary. I agree with Mayrie that this is indeed a real problem. In my opinion, we should all worry about computer programs that decide what we should see in a book. Do you still have your original file? That might be helpful if the book is resubmitted as a BSO book. If that is the case, you can resubmit as a BSO and request a proofreader who is familiar with dealing with footnotes. If the footnote numbers weren't removed by the proofreader, I don't have any guesses. That is odd indeed. Once you know whether it is a proofreading issue, then maybe we can all put our heads together on why the numbers might have been removed by the tools, if indeed that is what removed them. This is a definite problem, and needs to have all of its possible causes examined to decide what to do about it. Good luck! To say the least, I'm upset. I would appreciate suggestions as to what to do about this. Thanks.
