I frequently validate my own submissions. That group of 15 books I submitted
yesterday was from a group of 25 books, 10 of which I edited myself because
either there were massive amounts of garbage characters (kiddie books with lots
of pictures) or there was some white text on a black background (do I need to
retype those sections or can I safely ignore them?) or there were charts and
graphs in a book (or I wanted to read the book myself). If you know that
validators will have problems and you have books handy, I recoommend validating
problem books yourself. And of course if a book of mine is on the download
list for more than a month, I'll validate it just to get it into the collection.

  My 2 cents, Carrie

My understanding is that Bookshare prefers that we not validate our own
submissions. I would only do this if the book were on the step one page for
more than three months or I really knew why validators were having problems
with the book.
