Gray skies and steady temperatures in the thirties didn't slow us down
today. We turned up 64 species, 2 shy of our count record. Highlights
included a lone bald eagle over the Green River, 23 red-headed woodpeckers
(a new high count for this species), 4 cranes standing in a field not far
from the road, 10 rusty blackbirds, and an otter swimming in a farm pond.
Our big miss was Canada goose.
Birders included Bonnie Avery, Bruce Bardin, Lisa and John Brittain, Rachel
and Kurt Bush, Carol Friedman, Dan Givens, Richard Healy, Joanna Isaacs,
Steve and Janet Kistler,and Mitch Sturgeon.
