Nine observers enjoyed the mild weather Monday, 12/22, in Hart County. We found
59 species in our non-waterfowl location, although we did have a record number
of mallards (255). Also record numbers of yellow-rumped warblers (175) and
white-crowned sparrows (82) for this count. Also we found 8 red-headed
woodpeckers and a palm warbler.
Only 1 towhee !! Are they being missed elsewhere ? This was a shock to me.
An hour kayaking on the Green River upped the woodpecker totals considerably.
