Hi Helen,
Missed you.... How are you?

There was some discussion about MLS and School Librarian Credential. As
written the ByLaws do not include any mention of either. The wording of
the purpose and membership ByLaw statements are as follows:

*ARTICLE II. Purpose* The purpose of BAISL is to further the professional
growth of its member librarians, to support the improvement of non-public
school libraries, and to foster co-operation with other libraries.

*ARTICLE III. Membership* To join BAISL, one must be a non-public school
librarian. A non-working or retired member may request to cease paying
BAISL dues and become a non-voting member of the organization.

I vaguely recall that there was a slightly different wording presented by
Lauri Vaughan. I need to check with some other ByLaws committee members.

But anyway, when Lauri proposed a vote, the wording she suggested involved
"professional school librarian." I raised the question-- what is meant by
the word "professional?" That stopped the vote and left the question of
how a BAISL member is defined up in the air. So, Helen, you are fine.
You are a great member of the BAISL community and organization!!!
