Stan, we had a pretty good night at Cherry Road. I rated the skies 6 and 6 for seeing and transparency. Got a lot of galaxies observed. But tonight, the weather forecast is really falling apart, so I'll be staying home tonight. If your 5-incher is a short F/L Newtonian, I suspect the sky background would be brighter than what you might be used to, but having not looked through it, of course, that's only a guess. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to the Cherry Rd site last night. I have a refractor I would like to get opinions on. It is a 5" Explore Scientific. It seemed to be good when I tested it out, but I still have reservations. For one, I feel the background in the star field should be darker than it was up here last night, but since I have little experience with refractors I do not know.
