Neat picture! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Polakis" <tpolakis@xxxxxxx> To: <AZ-Observing@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, August 14, 2009 2:25 AM Subject: [AZ-Observing] Pleiades Occultation There is currently a nice occultation of the Pleiades by the Third Quarter moon in progress. The humidity is at monsoon levels in Arizona, adding a bit of undesirable haze to the scene, but it's clear. Here is a grab with my Canon 20D through a TV101. 1/2 second at ISO 200 showed the Earthshine and stars best, but unfortunately also showed the haze. http://members.cox.net/tpolakis/astro/IMG_9081.jpg The moon is moving roughly right to left in this scene. Electra has just emerged, and Alcyone is about to be covered.
