Peter: Many of us have contacts with astronomers and clubs outside of Arizona. Often when a light pollution measure comes up in another state, there is a call for support from these outside areas. An example I can recall is when the State of Vermont proposed building a well-lit medium security prison just two miles from Stellafane. As a former Vermont resident and life member of STM, I wrote in, and many amateurs across the country also did this. The campaign partially worked as the project was built but with a lighting engineer hired to revamp the design as much as practical. My questions to you and probably also the Presidents of SAC, TAAA and the rest is should we start to solicit national support for SB 1218? Is it a practical thing with the time remaining? Many amateurs across the US/world come here as Astro tourists and they do in fact have a stake in this, just as people across the US and world come to Stellafane. Sky and Telescope may be a good web venue to airtime this bill and the call to support. Your thoughts?
