The forecast is for a 50% chance of rain in the area around Hovatter Road and

I don't want to contend with dew again.

This persistent winter-like weather pattern results
from what's called "Rex block" (Google it), of which the
current event is a textbook example. Unfortunately the
8- and 12-day forecast issued today by the NWS
climate group shows this continuing for another 10 days,
then breaking down roughly two weeks out. See the
discussion and maps here:

For the record, that's the first time I have ever been concerned about dew in
the low deserts of Arizona in May.

My fading memory recalls and (luckily) written cloudiness
record shows the truly anomalous May 1992. This featured
a large but un-energetic cut-off low southwest of San Diego
that sat there for the entire month pushing mid- and
high-level clouds across the Southwest, but no
weather "action". We got only two clear nights that month.
