Sorry to come in on this so late guys, but WordPerfect 10 has seemless
import of MS Word Documents, and joy of joys, seemless VB import too. It
also has a very comprehensive XML editor as part of the Word Perfect
Office Package.

Tony Cusak may have been playing a bit more with than I have... I have
lent him my copies to check out.

You can download a trial version from www.Corel.com (I think; drug
induced haze working to confuse me here).

Corel and WordPerfect have been beavering away at the XML thing for a
while now, and I have been led to believe it is pretty good. I haven't
played with it extensively yet though...

Regards Warren.

Hi John,
We used to use DocBook. I think a good place to start is putting
together a
sample document ..
convert a not too long version of one of your manuals to xml.. examine
the
Data structures carefully. Document analysis is all important. Then
think
about whether you should write yr own DTD. XMLSpy has this handy
function
whereby you can generate a dtd from some xml content.
very Neat. Sorry re: messiness - I'm hurriedly writing this, so no
grammar
chk pls.

Good luck, this Quickref guide is a handy little intro doc .. also
checkout

caio,
Tracey

Bill, I genuflect before your awesome discipline. I mean that sincerely.
I agree that 'keeping it simple' and using 'save as' are two keys to
successful word usage.

I am hoping to migrate my company's manuals to an xml environment Does
anybody use DocBook? I need to think about training myself this year
before presenting the migration plan to the board next year. Any
suggestions for training on xml? I will go to summer school if I have
to.
