If you've not listened to the totorials which Gene listed here earlier, may wanta give them a listen, & then perhaps spend a little time reading David's guide. However, I found that when I was learning audacity, it was best for me only to read it if I needed to find out how to do something particular & not get bogged down reading the entire thing. I'm guessing that if you're wanting to get to work on your project, it'd about be as good a time as any to get going. If we can assist you once you're under way, let the list know. Or let me know off of it if I am able to help you directly in some way. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michelle Creedy " <michelle.creedy@xxxxxxxxx>

Hi Sean Wow, thanks so much! I really appreciate this. I spent quite a bit of time over the last week just looking at the menues, playing around with audioclips and basically getting to know the program. Would you suggest any goodplace to start now that I've familiarized myself with it? I'll go play around some more. That's cool you are in to radio! I love radio! First off, I'd suggest spending some time getting to know audacity before you actually need audacity. Meaning, just play & look around the program before you actually intend to record or edit something you're actually going to use. I love David's JAWS user guide for Audacity. But, one thing I'd say about it isthis... If you're not real formiluar with audacity. That guide can seem abit daunting & confusing to you. So, play then read. If I can be of help to you. Please feel free to let me know. I now consider myself an audacity poweruser. I use it each & every day in my work as a news & traffic reporter for 4 radio stations. As well as doing production for those 4 said stations. So,I'll be more than glad to assist as I can. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michelle Creedy " <michelle.creedy@xxxxxxxxx> To: <audacity4blind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, December 31, 2013 19:56 Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: New to the List and to AudacityHi Gale I'm using windows 7 with JAWS 14. I think really the problem I'm having is that I don't know exactly what I'm doing. I'd selected some audio to edit but then the file stopped playing altogether. Thanks so much for this link. I'll do a little on this each day and see how I go. You are all so very helpful. I'm really enjoying the program but I have a couple of questions. Can anyone suggest a good place to start when it comes to learning about editing? I've read the help manuals and so on but I'm having some difficulty with things I really probably shouldn't be and it's all very new to me. My goal is to put some of the little things I recorded on my cassette tapes onto computer so that I can keep them. They are things like my Grandparent's voices and so on so I really do want this to happen. It's next year's Christmas gift for my sister. Any help would be very much appreciated. LOL, I'm feeling like the one who doesn't know much here so it's a wonderful thing to have this list tolearn.MichelleThe audacity4blind web site is at //www.freelists.org/webpage/audacity4blind Subscribe and unsubscribe information, message archives, Audacity keyboard commands, and more...
