I don't see Cris' Dynamic Compressor in any of the menus. Do I have to
download and install it? Thanks. There is an effect called compressor. Can I
use that? What would be good settings for it? Thanks.

Hi Dyane and all
Cris' Dynamic compressor is a plugin I like so much, but in this case, I
think we could adjust the gane of the new recorded track. Just move there,
press shift+g, and enter the number which you want to adjust (from -36 to
36)
Cuong.

Hi Dyane!
I suppose you could use a tool like auphonic or a compressor for this job.
Haven't played much with a compressor, but for Audacity I believe one of the
best options might be Chris' dynamic compressor you can get it from here:
www.theaudacitytopodcast.com/chris
and listen to a very nice demo about it here:

Hope this helps
Best regards Thomas

Hi Liu Kai,
Thanks for the instructions. I had to play with it but finally inserted the
correct words. However, my recording on the second track came out louder
than the first track. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks.

hi, these instructions should work in win7
1. press enter on the track to select it.
2. ensure that no other track is selected.
3. go to just before the word and push the left bracket.
4. go to just after the word and press the right bracket.
5. go to the generate menue by pressing alt.
6. use the down arrow and find silence.
7. press enter on this and then tab over to ok.
8. give it a second or two to apply the silence, then press r to record and
say the new word
9. a new track would be created so go down to this track and press enter on
it so that the first track and the new recorded track would be selected.
10. press alt and go to the track menue.
11. use the down arrow and press enter on mix and render.
12. give it a few seconds to mix to the original track, it may rename the
track to mixed track, you can feel free to just rename it back to what you
had it before.
hope this helps.

Subject: [audacity4blind] Inserting one word in the middle of a track
Hi Everyone,
I misread one word on a recording I am making. I need to be able to change
the word "Albany" to "Albion." What is the easiest way to correct this in
Audacity? Please be very specific in your instructions. All help
appreciated. Thanks.
