Kristoffer, the following is important. When you connect the Xenyx 302
to the computer with the USB cable it is treated by the computer as
another sound card. The line in will be through the original sound
card. The Xenyx will be called something like USB audio CODEC. Are you
sure you are arrowing through all input options in Audacity?
If Goldwave can find the line in, there should be no reason why Audacity
cannot.
While recording through the line in is ok, it may be simpler to select
the Xenyx as the input device. As Adrian said, you do have to press
down one of those buttons (I cannot remember which just now) to get both
the mike and the source from the USB section to come through. You will
also have to turn up the playback volume on the mixer I think.
It is certainly possible to chase your tail when sorting out sound card
settings. Once you understand it though, you will wonder why it was
tricky earlier.
Although Audacity does not care which card is default, it will make a
difference when you play something through, say, Media Player. It will
send to the default card unless you go to some lengths to reassign it.
Audacity will probably play back through the default card too unless you
change it and it is important to know which one it is coming through.

Sound card settings? Make sure line-in is available, etc., but, don't
think you want to generally turn on the listen to it option, or else you
might be hearing it's output all the time, but, you might want to play
around with that to see if it's operating/working as such.
Unfortunately, current primary machine doesn't have one of those, so
can't giv3e you more details, but anyway.

In audacity, on the transport toolbar, which device is set as the
input/recording device?

Hi.
I got a mixer before that I plan to use at home.
I could record fine with that one.
but now I cannot record anything.
I have the mixer connected to the line in of my computer.
but when I try to record... nothing at all.
do you have any solution?
