[audacity4blind] Re: Can't record at all with any mixer

Hi Kristoffer

This reply is a bit slow in coming because I wanted to check out the Xenyx 302, which is on my desk at work, before commenting. Towards the top of the mixer are three columns of two RCA sockets. As you probably know by now, the two sockets on the right are the line out. If you connect - say - your iPhone to the middle set you can record through that input while also recording from whatever is coming through the USB interface. To record both at once the left-most button must be down. But coming in through that input the level is flat. That is, you cannot adjust the level from the mixer, so you have to adjust from the source.

If you use the inputs on the left column you can adjust the level from the mixer. However, you cannot record from that along with what is coming in via the USB section.

Have fun.

Andrew

Hi.
that was nice. I had almost given up.
do you think that there is a socket on the mixer I can set another
thing? for example my iphone?
I want to show people some games some day.
If so, I can use just this instead of behringer xenyx 1202.
but since I sucseeded with this one, there must be a way to do this
with the other mixer as well?

Congratulations.  As mentioned earlier, sorting out multiple sound cards
can be confusing at first.

You mentioned in a previous post that it just showed microphone for the
USB audio CODEC.  Regardless of how many channels the mixer has, the
system will just report it as microphone.  As you have discovered by
now, that does not stop you from recording from any channel on the mixer.

Hi.
Solved it. There was not much buttons on the mixen, so i played
around, and found the correct buttons.
Finally i  have found a good mixer.

You said you've inserted it now.  Inserted what?
As I understand it, you have line-in for the built-in Realtech
soundcard, but whatever device you are discussing, it doesn't show
that option.

Hi.
I've inserted it now.
it is rezognised as usb audio codec.
I can only select microphone in the codec. nothing more.
The line is just for the realtek card.

I'd still say check out the sound card settings, just in case - as
in,
it's possible the line-in is muted by default, and that goldwave
handles
that in the background.

In audacity, what is your audio host set to?  That could also affect
which recording devices show up, but, if you try changing those, then
first also make mental notes about initial values...<smile>

Sound card settings? Make sure line-in is available, etc., but,
don't
think you want to generally turn on the listen to it option, or
else you
might be hearing it's output all the time, but, you might want
to play
around with that to see if it's operating/working as such.

Unfortunately, current primary machine doesn't have one of those,
so
can't giv3e you more details, but anyway.

Stay well
