You can do the same thing when you plug in your ATR2100 by plugging your headphones in to the afore mentioned headphone jack on the mic. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gale Andrews" <gale@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

If you have sighted assistance, another solution after plugging in ATR2100 is to go into Windows Sound (Playback tab), select the built-in audio device that you normally use, use the Menu key or right-click then choose "Set as Default Device". That will give you sound again in your screen reader, but the trick is that if you disconnect the ATR2100 while the built-in audio is default device, then next time you plug in the ATR2100 Windows should remember not to make ATR the default playback device. Obviously, given that you loose audio, this makes it difficult to then go intoplayback devices and reset the normal speakers to be default. Are you using Jaws?If so then you can specify the output device that Jaws uses. By default it's set to the defaultplayback device, but you can set it to a specific device, for example, the speakers/headphones you normally use. If you do this, then you should still have jaws after plugging in the microphone, and you can reset the speakers as the default (in the list of playback devices, use the speakers context menu). To this, open the Jaws window (insert+j), open the utilities menu, open the sound cards sub-menu, and choose a device. Note if you don't recognize your speakers for sure, don't do this, as you'll loose Jaws output completely. In this case, I think you'll need sighted assistance. Given that others on the list have recommended this microphone, there may be other ways they can suggest for fixing this - the above is just my best guess. What do I need to change in Windows to correct this. I am using Windows 7. -- Rich De StenoThe audacity4blind web site is at //www.freelists.org/webpage/audacity4blind Subscribe and unsubscribe information, message archives, Audacity keyboard commands, and more...
