I think for what you're doing, this mic would work great for you. You most certainly don't have to be a podcaster to take full advantage of this mic. If you're recording tutorials, I think a dynamic mic works much better for this type of thing than a condenser mic. Condenser mics are good if you have a studio invirnment, are trying to record group settings, singing, etc. Meaning, a room that has all sorts of noise blocking capability, etc. If you're in the type of invirnments that most of us find ourselves in, a room in our house. Dynamic mics work so much better as you've gotta be up on them, they reject so much of the background / room noise. It makes listening to a tutorial so much better without all the echo, background noise, etc. Yes, I'll play around with the mic & let you know if it'll do what you're asking at some point today. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dang Manh Cuong" <dangmanhcuong@xxxxxxxxx>

I have not get it because I'm not a podcaster. I just do a little tutorial for my friend, and I have a condenser mic. However, I'd like this. So if you have time to try and give us some info, I apreciate.Cuong----- Original Message ----- From: "Sean Paul" <newsandtraffic@xxxxxxx>To: <audacity4blind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, August 12, 2013 5:27 PM Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: Audio Tecnica ATR 2100 Mike on PCI can't speak on that as I've never tried it, did you get the mic? I thought I'd read back up there somewhere you had. If you have gotten it, give it a try & give us a full report. If you do not have the mic. I'll give it a shot later here in the day when I have a few moments & get back with you with that answer. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dang Manh Cuong" <dangmanhcuong@xxxxxxxxx>________________ Dang Manh Cuong HCMC University of Pedagogy: The Educational Psychology Mobile: +84 902-572-300 E-mail: dangmanhcuong@xxxxxxxxx Yahoo! So does it support stereo mix? I usually record audio with screen reader and my voice. That's why I ask you this question.Thank you.----- Original Message ----- From: "Sean Paul" <newsandtraffic@xxxxxxx>To: <audacity4blind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, August 12, 2013 5:14 PM Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: Audio Tecnica ATR 2100 Mike on PC________________ Dang Manh Cuong HCMC University of Pedagogy: The Educational Psychology Mobile: +84 902-572-300 E-mail: dangmanhcuong@xxxxxxxxx Yahoo! If you change JAWS only to work on another sound card then the headphone jack located in the back/bottom of the mic is still usable as an output device for the mic audio. If you use Gales method & go in to windows settings & tell your machine to only use the default device which you spesify for the whole machine to use which will be every sound which comes from the machine, then, no, the headphone jack on the bottom/back of the mic is nolonger usable for output audio from the mic. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Bailes" <david_bailes@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: <audacity4blind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, August 10, 2013 05:00 Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: Audio Tecnica ATR 2100 Mike on PC Hi Sean, thanks for providing an alternative method for fixing the problem. You say that once you've changed the default playback device back to the normal playback device, then no more audio is available from the headphone jack on the microphone. I presume that you can still use this headphone jack to monitor the microphone input, with the level being controlled by the dial on the bottom of the microphone?David. ----- Original Message ----- From: Sean Paul <newsandtraffic@xxxxxxx> To: audacity4blind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: Sent: Friday, 9 August 2013, 19:59 Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: Audio Tecnica ATR 2100 Mike on PC Heyya Rich:David is exactly right on this issue. When you plug the 2100 in to your USBport, it starts acting as a secondary audio device. If you're needingscreen reader audio, you can hook up a pair of headphones to the headphone jack located just to the right of the Mini USB connector on the back/bottom of the mic. Then make the changes which David spoke of to get your audioback in to your speakers. Note, once you change the audio back to your primary output device. The headphone jack in the back/bottom of the micisn't needed anymore & no audio will come from it. The headphone jack was designed on the mic to allow you to monitor the audio which comes from the mic. Novel concept except in our screen reader cases. Also, if you plug up your headphones & hear no audio. Start flicking the volume little button located under the XLR connection on the back/bottom of the mic. Different systems cause this button to act different. Meaning that some make a flickto the right up & left down. Whilst others go the other direction. So, you'll have to play with it & figure out which way is which on yourparticular system. I had the same issue when I first got my mic & am using an older version of JAWS, had a hell of a time getting this issue workedout. Let me know if I can help further.----- Original Message ----- From: "David Bailes" <david_bailes@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: <audacity4blind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, August 09, 2013 12:54 Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: Audio Tecnica ATR 2100 Mike on PC Hi Rich,it appears that when you plug in the usb mic, it may be treating it as thedefault playback device.Obviously, given that you loose audio, this makes it difficult to then gointo playback devices and reset the normal speakers to be default. Are you using Jaws?If so then you can specify the output device that Jaws uses. By default it's set to the default playback device, but you can set it to a specific device, for example, the speakers/headphones you normally use. If you do this, then you should still have jaws after plugging in the microphone, and you can reset the speakers as the default (in the list of playback devices, use thespeakers context menu). To this, open the Jaws window (insert+j), open the utilities menu, open the sound cards sub-menu, and choose a device. Note if you don't recognize your speakers for sure, don't do this, as you'll loose Jaws output completely. Inthis case, I think you'll need sighted assistance.Given that others on the list have recommended this microphone, there may beother ways they can suggest for fixing this - the above is just my best guess.
