Well, there goes the early night. David, I took the plunge and installed it.
I have been so much looking forward to this release. Have so far made a very
brief recording and now reading the manual.

Subject: [audacity4blind] Audacity 2.4.0 release candidate available for testing
For Windows users, there's both a portable version and an installer for the
release candidate. This is a link to the portable version:
https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity-devel.html?dwl=Audacity-2.4.0rc05.zip
And this is a link to the installer:
https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity-devel.html?dwl=audacity-win-2.4.0rc05.exe
The new features in this release are given on this page of the manual:
https://alphamanual.audacityteam.org/man/New_features_in_this_release ;
Of interest to screen reader users include the ability to scrub using the
keyboard, and the removal of the audio position control from the selection
toolbar. The audio position control is now in a separate Time toolbar, which is
placed after the Selection Toolbar. So you just have to tab a bit more to get
to the audio position control.
For those using the current version of the Jaws script, the keystroke to read
the audio position does not work with the release candidate.
It would be good if some of you could give this release candidate some testing,
David.
