I'm using the Freescale MAG3110 chip for my magnetic apogee sensor (
http://www.zeptobit.com/zeptomag/).
The MAG3110 is a 3-axis magnetic sensor with an I2C interface. It's a
2x2mm DFN-10 package so it's best to use a PCB, but it can be soldered
dead-bug-style for prototyping.
