I was looking at this simple pump design by Barske in this PDF
http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a474140.pdf I noticed there is
no volute on this design? The impeller is completely open.

Diffusion occurs in the exit pipe?

There are 2? outlets?

Easier to manufacture. Big hit on efficiency?
