Speaking of sidewinder, It's a REMARKABLY simple system, I've got a
complete 9J Seeker-GCU in my collection that I've been cleaning up for
reverse engineering purposes.
Where it gets really interesting is the entire thing is powered by a slow
burning rocket engine, generating gas that not only spins a
turboalternator to provide electric power but also the drive gas for the
fin control servos.
The simplicity of the guidance system design is just incredibly elegant,
running the differential equations on less than 13 vacuum tubes (depending
on the variant) is a triumph of engineering.
I'll be taking mine up to a hospital to get it CT scanned along with a
loaned K-13 seeker, which is a Bravo derivative from the USSR.
