It appears to me we just wont see eye to eye here Henry.
You seem to change what I say into something else as good as my wife
can, so I guess we have to agree to disagree.
All I can say is the guys at Satnogs seem to agree with me so I'm not
all alone here or on some project by myself.
Why someone would argue against such a project is beyond me.
I believe the problems with small sats are easier to overcome than what
you say and they will get better and better at it over time.
I agree heat is one of those problems and thermal issues in general but
I certainly don't see that as an unsolvable problem by any far reach.
Radio and space go together like bread and butter in fact one is no good
without the other.
Guidance and RCS are making their way into amateur rocketry right now in
a big way. It's all enviable why fight it?

The point is that useful satellites often aren't all just electronics, and
some of the other things *don't* get smaller and better the same way
electronics does -- some of them have inherent limits.
Remember, no matter how good the electronics are, electronics on the
ground are even cheaper (and easier to fix) than electronics in space.
There has to be a reason to put them in space. Said reasons often get you
into issues that don't scale down the way the electronics do.
I'm even willing to bet most satellites in the not too distant future
will be even smaller than 1U cubesats!
To date, most 1U cubesats are just solar-powered radios. Almost all the
cubesats that have useful payloads are 3U or bigger.
