That's my modus operandi too, and it's vastly disconcerting when
datestamps have got mangled through a distribution or copying system that
doesn't care about datestamps. Let's hope that's all in the past, though!
I have renamed some of the directories on the original disc image; my
structure probably goes back to either Iyonix or even RISC PC days, and
I've got used to it. I don't have a Documents directory, but I do have
one called Words, which doesn't need updating as I don't think it contains
anything on the new disc image. I have Words, and instead of Text I have
Editfiles.
Could you keep an obeyfile handy for when a new discimage arrives, with a
series of commands such as
*rename Documents Words
*rename Text Editfiles
