I've just uploaded a formal release of the HDMI audio / video improvements
that have been on-going for the last few months. This new release
contains a number of fixes and improvements over the beta, so comes
strongly recommended.
My natural behaviour with an update of this sort is to copy it to SDFS
drive 1 into a directory $.(iMX6) and run it from inside the archive.
:1 is the OS "ROM" and (as stated in the manual, I think, certainly in
most sales phonecalls I have with people) should be treated as read only.
Only time I'd write to it would be to update the recovery image.
This is more of a philosophical thing than a practical thing - why mess
with your operating system rom if you don't have to - but as you saw with
this, the low-level operations to write data to the card require exclusive
access. This makes sense, if you think about it, for something as
critical as updating the OS ROM.
