I've managed to build Argyll from scratch with mingw, (my gosh, you have written 

a lot of code).

It gets past the original error, and now I either get:

    dispcal Aprox, fwd matrix unexpectedly singular (from dispcal)

or
Error - Write file: 1 icmXYZArray_write: write_XYZumber() failed. from colprof 

(I'm actually driving them through dispcalGUI.)
