Cindy, I use the WACF frame all the time. I don't seem to have the trouble = others do when it comes to the unstructured hats and I am not sure why. = Looking at the hat in the OTTO catalog, that is one that has a full structure = buckram wool cap. It shouldn't be shifting no matter where the design starts. I have a couple of ideas. 1) It should be hooped somewhat tight. In other words when you go to = push the clamp down it will take a little effort. Also, make sure the = wingnut on the clamp is not loosening when you clamp it down. 2) Next you could do a real basic edit to the design. Add an edge walk outline to the two flags. I would make the thread the same color as the hat. This will anchor the hat down to your backing. Also, you should = only have to use one layer of backing which is mostly for purposes of accomplishing better registration. I have embroidered those type of = hats without backing before.......with a good running hat design though.=20 Now with all that said, what I would suggest doing first instead of continueing to ruin hats is hoop in the WACF about 3 layers of backing = and a scratch piece of fabric cut to fit. After you have done the basic edit mentioned above then sew out the design and see what it looks like. Then = you will be able to decide what other kind of editting the design needs. = Yes the fact that it wasn't designed for hats has a huge impact on = registration. I hope this helps. May not solve the whole thing but is someplace to = start other then ruining hats. The Caps are OTTO style 27-211. The design is two flags which start sewing towards the top of = the cap. I can not edit the sewing of the design as it was sent to me in = exp format. My cap moves as it sews throwing off the registration. I have = ruined two already. I have tried tearaway and up to two sheets of cutaway = backing, as well as slowing the sewing speed down to 500spm. Any suggestions? =20 Cindy Chamberlin Impressive Threads, LLC 623-879-9761 Office 602-710-0887 Mobile <mailto:ImpressiveThreads@xxxxxxx> ImpressiveThreads@xxxxxxx =20 =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=20 The AmayaUsers Mailing List Website: http://www.amayausers.com Discussion Board: http://www.amayausers.com/boards Subscribe/Unsubscribe: http://www.amayausers.com/list =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=20 =========================================================== The AmayaUsers Mailing List Website: http://www.amayausers.com Discussion Board: http://www.amayausers.com/boards Subscribe/Unsubscribe: http://www.amayausers.com/list ===========================================================
