Are you talking about the Slim Pickin alphabet in Design Shop? At 1.5
inches the serifs are all that need to be changed. This is where Auto
Split, a 2006 feature, is very handy. It splits column satin stitches
over a specified length into shorter stitches. The few times I have used
it the overall stitch count increased on average 50%. Compared to 100%
or more for column fill that is a significant reduction. If you would
like to send me your design in OFM format, I can take a look at it.
