Yes, changing the settings in auto actifeed is very useful and takes trial and 
error. I have two XT's and each one requires a different setting depending on 
the embroidery project. The bobbin tension is crucial to the thread break issue 
and the correct bobbin makes a difference. I only use NEB bobbins, but I have 
heard others claim success with Coats. Keep in mind that every machines, even 
though identical, will not be a "one setting fits all" type of thing. The XT is 
just a tool and as with any tool, knowing the best way to adjust it to your 
skill is key.
