Steve,

More than likely the Host of your domain and email got hacked, not Broder.
Think about it, the number of Email addresses on a public mail server are
going to be many times the number of email addresses stored in Broder
records. I may be wrong, but why would a spammer go after a little when a
lot is available?

Roland,
My point is I gave this email address to Broder and only to Broder. It was
created just for them to use and no one else has it except them. I just went
to their website. Their privacy policy says this:

Broder is very sensitive to the privacy concerns of the visitors to its site
on the Internet. As a general policy, no personal information is
automatically collected from visitors to the site. However, certain
non-personal information of visitors is recorded by the standard operation
of Broder Internet servers. This information is primarily used to provide an
enhanced online experience for the visitor. Information tracked includes the
type of operating system in use (e.g., Macintosh, Windows) and the type of
browser being used by the visitor (e.g., Netscape, Internet Explorer, etc.).
Other uses of this information include internal review of the number of
visitors to the site but only in an aggregate and non-personally
identifiable form. E-mail addresses and other personally identifiable
information such as a first and last name, home or other physical address,
and telephone number, about visitors to this site are known only when
voluntarily submitted, for example via registra
tion for purchasing privileges, content submissions, suggestions or
participation of visitors in any available online interactive activities.
Unless otherwise disclosed during the collection, personally identifiable
information that may be collected in connection with visitors to this site
is retained by Broder and is not sold, transferred or otherwise disclosed
outside the company, except where disclosure is required by law. This
information may be used for any of the following purposes: (1) to help
Broder better understand visitors' use of our site; (2) to fulfill orders;
(3) to respond to specific requests from our visitors;(4) to provide any
necessary notices to our visitors or their parent or guardians, where
necessary; (5) to protect the security or integrity of our site when
necessary.

They say they don't sell it or release it to anyone else. Why am I receiving
emails that has nothing to do with the embroidery industry?
A phone number is public information, just open a phonebook. That email
address I gave them was only given to Broder and no one else.

Date: Fri, 12 May 2006 08:08:52 -0400 Did any of you ever know that there
are databank companies that do
nothing but have people going through phone numbers and catching
'new' numbers all day long to add to spam phone calls? Probably same
companies looking for new email addresses...because as soon as you
get a new email, it MUST be registered in a database to be activated!
I spent last year remodeling a mobile home for my son-as soon as we
bought it, I had a phone installed for us to use while working-no
cell phone service there. The phone was activated at 9 am or so in
the morning-before mid afternoon, I was ALREADY getting 'buy this'
phone calls every hour!
We complained to the phone company about releasing our new number-and
they explained they had no control over it...how these companies have
access to the 'registry' of all phone numbers and instantly know any
new number! So I have no doubt it exists for email spammers.
My internet server has a great filter system...catches 99% of the
garbage...but also stops a lot of the amayausers forwards...at least
I can access the 'storage bin' of the spam and click on these to get
them.
