Hey David:

It was my understanding that the new XT's with the latest motherboard do
require .029 - at least that is what I believe I was told while I was at
tech training a few weeks ago in Denver. That you cannot run the new "17"
board without the latest OS. But if I am wrong - maybe Jeff from Melco can
clarify - but it's right in my notes. On the updates, the 6 month rule may
be "general", but it's not always the case. Again - this is something we
went over in tech training on day one (who is eligible for what).

For example. 5.07.056 was the last version 5 of the OS produced. All users
running previous versions can upgrade to that level 5 version for free. In
fact, anyone running a previous version of 5 should call to request it. My
guess is that the 6 month thing is referring to a "major" version update.

It's best to call your rep or melco direct and ask.

JOHN

John,

Sorry to cause the confusion we still refer to the older AMAYA software as
ACPS and the newer as OS, which is why we stated that the OS software is
suitable for all AMAYA's.

XT's with the new mother board require V7 OS but not necessarily V
7.00.029

As Melco's agent we are advised that upgrades are for software which is no
more than 6 months old, it is then up to us to distribute to our individual
customers.

Hope this clears up our earlier email.

Cheers

Actually, "AMAYA OS levels are suitable for all AMAYA's made" is not quite
true. The Amaya XT's require a minimum version of the OS. XT's shipping
with the new motherboard require another version (I believe it's the most
recent...7.00.029).

We have posted that information on the amayausers.com website (upper right
corner) and also try to post version update numbers as they come out as
well.

Also, the 6 month rule isn't quite accurate either. Call Melco, give them
your OS version and they can tell you if you are eligible for an upgrade.

It is definitely true though that the older machines benefit from the
improvements to the OS :)

Jim,

If there is an upgrade within 6 months of your purchase Melco will provide
it for you. Otherwise you can upgrade by purchasing the upgrade as required.

As for 3 y.o. AMAYA's running new software, yes all AMAYA OS levels are
suitable for all AMAYA's made.

We have customers with the machines from the first lot made and they run
better with version 7 software than the original software they had been
supplied with.

Cheers.

I am wondering what the protocol is for notification and updating of the
AmayaOS software....do you folks get notified about updates automatically?
What about a 3 year old Amaya...can it use the newer OS?

I ask because Melco never informs me about updates, so I'm not sure what the
procedure is...

Thanks,

Jim
