Hi Kate,

I have used an iPhone since VO first came out on the iPhone 3GS. I’ve never
used an Android phone, but, I did purchase a Nexus 7 running Android this past
June, and, if the Android phone is anything like the Nexus 7, I’d say you are
much better off with an iPhone. While TalkBack is okay, it is very frustrating
to use, in my opinion. On the iPhone, a 2 finger swipe down in an email
message or document will have VO read the entire message. In Android, , you
need to make a swipe up and to the right, touch the screen and explore in a
circular motion and choose the amount of text a swipe will read. It seems like
a lot of steps compared to IOS. I’ll admit that I’m not as familiar with
Android, so some of my frustration may be due to lack of knowledge, but, I
recall when I first got my iPhone, I was frustrated for a couple of days, but
the environment was intuitive and easy to learn. This isn’t the case in
Android, for me anyway.

I know my views may not be popular on this list, but I’m just answering your
question as honest as I can having used both Android and IOS.

Good luck whatever you decide.
