I'm probably going to sound even stupider here, but I'll ask anyway. What are
hidden folders in the first place, and how do they get on the computer?

Hello: Why do you have to delete them often? Do they do something to
your hard drive?

    Marcus,

Even though you carbon copied this list, I have not seen any response to
your question, so I will make an attempt just in case you are still waiting.

I run on an XP box, and this is what I did to show the hidden files.
    Go to Control Panel.
    go to Folder Options.
You start on the General tab. Shift tab and arrow to the View tab.
On that page is a treeview that includes a line whether or not to display
hidden files. Change it as needed.
Go to the OK and press enter.

I find that temporary Word files accumulate, so it is a good idea to
delete those periodically.

      Hope that helps.

      Wayne

      Hi all,

When checking the number of files I have in a folder on my C drive, I got
this message:
      87 items, plus one hidden

How do I find out what the hidden item is?

      Marcus
