yes, I have, and on several other sites also, and most of those are next to
useless, as even for those with no hearing problem, it is very often really
hard to pick out what you are supposed to enter from the background junk.
it was actually a few messages on another list about the useless audio
captcha on the EPetition site, that prompted me to ask the original
question.

I agree Simon but hold on a minute, I am in the same boat as you. Now when
there is a visual capture certainly on the BBC website for example, there is
the option to listen to distorted speech. Have you come across that one?
Crazy stuff, the speech having to be distorted but there you are. What if
the visually impaired person also has hearing difficulty?
