I must say Chris that's very impressive for an engineer to do that. Talk about give credit where it's due.

Hello,

I had a new boiler for the central heating system
installed last Thursday, also using a grant from
Warm Front. The heating engineer who did the
assessment suggested putting in a mechanical
timer, as he said that I wouldn't get any help
from a digital timer. However, when they arrived
last Thursday, they brought the Cobolt talking
timestat with them - I hadn'ttold the engineer
about this product, so he must have done some good research.

The electrician removed the plug and socket from
the timer and connected it up permanently to the
boiler. It works well, but because the lead that
takes the current to the boiler is so short, the
timer has to stand on a worktop, which is not an ideal place for it.

Hope this helps.

Christopher

Hi all

I think this has been covered on here before, so apologies for repetition.

I had a quick look on Google, but didn't find anything. Is there such a thing around?

We just had a new combi boiler installed, with a fancy new digital thermostat control. My partner hates manuals, and I can't operate the thermostat on my own.

Any help appreciated.

Also, I'm sure a lot of you may already be aware, but for those who are not. We had the boiler fitted free of charge, which would have cost just under £2500 if we would have had to of paid for it.

We applied to the warm front grant scheme, and the rest was easy.

The main eligibility for the grant is, certain benefits, e.g. dla, etc, and you either own the property, or rent it privately. They will also carry out insulation work.

Its worth knowing about, as we were about to spend £2500 of our own money. It doesn't matter if you are working, as its not income related.

Best wishes.

Terry
