Kevin, In replying to Donna's query I did not perhaps choose my words carefully enough. What I was trying to say was that the Windows XP Firewall need not be turned off because another firewall is in use. Whether two firewalls like Kerio and Sygate could be run simultaneously is debatable. When I have wanted to test a firewall, I have always temporary disabled the one already on the system.
