[access-uk] scanners computers, and jaws

Hi  All
Any  views regarding the  following.
My  local authority  is  looking at  funding  equipment for me
and they are  recommending:


"Toshiba satellite pro laptop A200 with 1GB ram memory, with windows
XP pro included."

Is this a good choice for Jaws  and a scanner? 


"Jaws update to number 8 from"

Iassume  if jaws was bought next year  it would be Jaws9

"Canoscan Lide 70 scanner by canon and  Openbook from  (latest high
specification OCR software)

Is this a good  choice for the  scanner?
