I found it when playing around. You can go directly into the copy facility without loading Kurzweil too. It helped when I didn't want to load all my scanner stuff.

With my Epson 1240, I have a really nifty facility that lets me press one of the buttons on the front and it photocopies documents, which is really handier than trying to get someone to copy them for you. If I ever had to upgrade my scanner, it would be a feature I would hate to lose. But I like the sound of the book edge facility on the Opticbook.Jackie----- Original Message ----- From: "Graham Page" <gpage@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, November 14, 2007 7:46 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: scanners computers, and jawsall will work well and the laptop should be fine I think. The Cannon LIDErange of scanners are perhaps a little slow but they are better than nothing. If you are going to be scanning books then a bookedge scannerwould be appropriate. The only one I know of that is reasonably affordable is the Plustek Optibook 3600. This has a scanner glass that extends past the front edge of the scanner. it slopes down at an angle of 45 degrees or something like that, could be 30 degrees i'm really not sure what the angle is. Anyway it allows text in the margin of a book to be read without havingto break the spine in order to read it.OpenBook has not been developed for a while but there is a latest version, version 8 about to be released. Generally, of the scanning programsdesigned for visually impaired people, Kurzweil 1000 is currently the moreadvanced program I would say. regards Graham Graham Page Home Phone: 0207 265 9493 Mobile: 07753 607980 Fax: 0870 706 2773 Email: gpage@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx MSN: gabriel_mcbird@xxxxxxxxxxx Skype: gabriel_mcbird----- Original Message ----- From: "Derek Hornby" <derek.hornby_uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: "Access-Uk@Freelists. My local authority is looking at funding equipment for me and they are recommending: "Toshiba satellite pro laptop A200 with 1GB ram memory, with windows XP pro included." Is this a good choice for Jaws and a scanner? "Jaws update to number 8 from" Iassume if jaws was bought next year it would be Jaws9 "Canoscan Lide 70 scanner by canon and Openbook from (latest high specification OCR software) Is this a good choice for the scanner?
