Subject: [access-uk] problems with my laptop computer, sluggish video,
memory and disk performance

Hi Everyone.

Its unusual for me to write to any list with a technical problem
*smile*, but I can't figure out what is happening here so would
appreciate some assistance.

I recently started experiencing sluggish performance of my main laptop
pc. The general spec is a 2.4GHZ dual core processor, 2GB memory,
Nvidia 512MB dedicated graphics chip and Windows XP professional
edition. The laptop has a 250GB SATA 5400RPM hard drive and when
doing the tests I had my Freecom XXS drive connected which has 320GB
with the same rotational speed. I ran a series of performance tests
at www.pcpitstop.com which reported that 2D and 3D graphics were poor,
but most alarmingly, the memory performance of this machine was only
around the 400MB mark, yet i have 1066MHZ memory in this machine.
Also, disk performance was poor, with my freecom drive only read/write
data speed at 9MB whilst the system disk managed 33MB. If anyone has
any suggestions as to what may be causing these issues, some ideas
would be much appreciated.

All the best, Ibrahim.
